RSV

Last weekend both John and Megan started to have runny noses and run low grade fevers. They also had a nasty cough. I was worried that it was something more serious than a cold so we went into the doctor early Monday. It turns out that both the babies have RSV. Mind you this is just a week after they stopped puking and pooping their brains out from the rotavirus.

John was wheezing so he was given an albuterol breathing treatment (I gave it to him in the office). By his reaction, I am pretty sure that he thought it was the worst thing in the world. To say he cried doesn't quite explain how upset he was during the experience. Poor kid! It seemed to help his wheezing so we were sent home with a Nebulizer machine and told to give him 4 treatments a day. Yeah!
This picture was taken in the office during his first treatment. He not only screamed, he also was pushing the mask away with all his strength...he is pretty strong for a 15 pound munchkin!

Megan was not wheezing, but the doctor said that is she started to then we were to give her 4 treatments per day. Tuesday morning we woke up and Megan sounded awful. I began the breathing treatments that day and she perked up quickly.
We are down to one or two breathing treatments per day for each of them right now. They tolerate them much better than they did at the beginning of the week. They are playing around again and have begun to get their appetites back.
I am hopeful that this is the last virus we get for a while! I am exhausted and they have to be ready to feel better!
